University Personnel System (UPS) Delayed
In recent weeks the Joint Committee on Finance passed a resolution to delay the implementation of the University Personnel System (UPS) until 2015. If everything in the budget remains as it currently stands, this means that there will be no changes for Classified Staff or those who could have moved to Academic Staff until July 1, 2015.
Major impacts of this change are that:
- Classified Staff will remain under the State Pay Plan. The University will not control pay.
- Current rules for Discretionary Merit compensation will remain in effect and lump sum is available to those who are hourly employees.
- A new State Pay Plan is being developed and we currently don't have information on its content for classified employees.
- Recruitments will be handled through OSER and WiscJobs.
