This is the 20th anniversary for the Outstanding Women of Color in Education Award, which was initiated in 1994 to acknowledge the contributions of women of color from around the state for their extensive contributions to their campuses and/or communities. Since its inception, approximately 355 women of color have been recognized through this award.
Additionally, this year marks the expansion of the P.B. Poorman Award from a single recipient for the entire UW System to that of 14 recipients, one from each institution. The P.B. Poorman Award was established to publicly recognize the contributions that LGBTQ people and their allies have made to the UW System, to diversity, and LGBTQ inclusivity.
If you would like to nominate an individual for the Outstanding Women of Color in Education Award who has made outstanding contributions to diversity and women’s studies at UW-Whitewater and/or for the Dr. P.B. Poorman Award for his or her excellence in advocacy, research, teaching, or service on behalf of the LGBTQ communities, please submit nomination materials by Friday, May 22, 2015 to Elizabeth Ogunsola, ogunsole@uww.edu.
