Waste Bin Reduction Program begins Jan. 2
Starting Jan. 2, campus will implement a Waste Bin Reduction Program – a best practice that makes custodial operations more efficient. Campus ran a pilot of this program in Hyland and Heide halls earlier this year with much success, and found that the program supports sustainability through improved recycling efficiencies, and saves money.
It is estimated that this expanded effort will save our campus $34,000 annually in supplies and labor.
What it means for campus:
- Trash and recycling bins will be standardized in common areas across campus
- Bin signage and labels will be standardized using industry best practices
- Fewer small trash and recycling bins in classrooms, meeting/conference rooms, and other areas.
- Reduced trash service to offices (three days per week instead of five)
