Interim Carryover Leave Balances Policy / Updated Furlough Information / July 4 Legal Holiday
Furlough time taken in July must be entered on the timesheet and approved by July 15, in order to be included in the July payroll process. Pay date is 7/31/2020.
INTERIM VACATION/PERSONAL HOLIDAY CARRYOVER POLICY:
"The COVID-19 crisis has had a disruptive effect on employee schedules, including the ability to take planned time off. Some employees have vacation or personal holidays that must be used by June 30, 2020 or they risk forfeiting those paid time off entitlements. This interim policy temporarily amends sections of three UW System Administrative policies related to the carryover of these paid leave entitlements to allow employees the option of carrying over these leave balances for an additional year."

"Unused vacation time carried over from fiscal year 2019 into fiscal year 2020 may be carried forward one additional fiscal year. Vacation carried over in this manner must be utilized by June 30, 2021.
"Unused vacation time earned in fiscal year 2020 may be carried over into fiscal year 2021. Vacation carried over under this section must be used by June 30, 2021.”
"Personal holiday hours earned in fiscal year 2020 may be carried over, without limitation, into fiscal year 2021. Hours carried over under this section must be used by June 30, 2021 or they will be lost.”
FURLOUGH INFORMATION:
There are two sets of instructions for the Faculty and Academic Staff salaried employees. One is for instructional employees and the other is for non-instructional employees. Links to the instructions are below. Please review the July Human Resources Newsletter for more information and examples. All furlough entries must be submitted and approved by the 15th of each month in order to be included in that month's payroll process.

JULY 4 LEGAL HOLIDAY:
The July 4 legal holiday is a floating holiday for all employees. It may be taken any time during the fiscal year from 7/1/2020 to 6/30/2021. When the holiday hours are used, they are submitted as a regular absence request, selecting "Legal Holiday (UNC)" as the absence name/type, and entering the number of hours used.
