1098T Educational tax credits
Tax season will be here before you know it. Be sure all your personal profile information is updated. We want you to have quick, easy access to your 1098-T for educational tax credits. It is important the university has accurate reporting information on file so you receive the form you need and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) receives your correct information. Please check your personal profile information on your Student Center page. If your home address has changed or your Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification number (ITIN) is either missing or invalid, look below for instructions:
Is your HOME address up to date? If not, please contact the Registrar’s Office 262-472-1570 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is your Social Security number correct? If your SSN or the ITIN on your student account is either missing or invalid, you will not receive a 1098-T. The IRS requires all colleges and universities to request SSNs or ITINs from enrolled students in order to comply with Form 1098-T reporting requirements for educational tax credits. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is requesting that you provide us with this information. Please complete the Social Security Number Change form on the Registrar’s website: http://www.uww.edu/registrar/forms. Follow the instructions on the form, sign it and forward it to the Registrar’s Office along with the proper documentation.
If you do not have a copy of your Social Security card or prefer to use the IRS form, you can locate it at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9s.pdf". Submit this form to the Registrar’s Office.
