Important Google Chrome Security Update
Earlier this week, Google issued an emergency patch to correct a vulnerability in its Google Chrome browser. To help maintain the security of our campus computing environment, ICIT will be accelerating the normal Chrome update process to ensure all devices remain as secure as possible.
We ask users of university-owned computers to briefly assist with the installation of your office device. This should only take a few minutes and you will be able to use your computer. To assist you in the process, we encourage you to review the step-by-step instructions.
Updates to office devices will be available starting at 2 p.m. today. You will have the option to defer the update for up to 24 hours and after that, the update will begin automatically. Google Chrome must be closed, but your computer will not be shut down.
If you are not prompted for the update you may already be running the required version of Chrome (88.0.4324.150 or later).
Overnight, ICIT staff will update all lab and classroom computers to the latest version of Google Chrome. No action will be required on your part and all computers will be ready to use by the next morning.
