Cisco Jabber/Instant Messenger update
To address several recent Cisco Jabber security alerts, ICIT will be issuing an update for the Jabber client this week. The update to version 12.9 will have a new visual appearance.
We ask users of university-owned computers to briefly assist with the installation for your office device. This should only take a few minutes and you will be able to use your computer.
Updates will be available starting Friday, April 2 through Monday, April 5 as a self-service option.
Starting Tuesday, April 6, if your computer has not been updated, ICIT will push an update. For more information, please review the step-by-step instructions, which detail the process for Macs, PCs, and remote workers.
We recommend turning on all office computers on April 6 to assure they are updated.
Visit Cisco Jabber Instant Messenger for documentation on using the new version, including how to revert to the ‘classic’ or familiar view.
We highly recommend updating personal/home computers or mobile devices using Cisco Jabber. Download the new version from the Instant Messenger (Jabber) technology services page.
NOTE: In a few weeks, older versions of Jabber will be disabled, please update Jabber to avoid an interruption of service.
If you require assistance, please feel free to contact the Help Desk at any time.
Thank you for your assistance with this security update!
