Disabling old versions of Cisco Jabber/Instant Messenger
ICIT issued an update for Cisco Jabber in early April to address security warnings. To ensure the safety of our campus computing environment, older versions of Jabber will be disabled starting at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, April 30.
Users who try to connect with an old version of Jabber may encounter an error message that it “cannot connect to the server.” To use Jabber, update it by following these instructions.
To verify your Jabber version is up-to-date, please see our knowledge article on how to find your version.
Visit Cisco Jabber Instant Messenger for documentation on using the new version, including how to revert to the classic or familiar view.
Personal devices
If you have not yet done so, we recommend updating personal/home computers or mobile devices using Cisco Jabber. Download the new version from the Instant Messenger (Jabber) technology services page. Mobile users can verify their app is the latest version by searching for Jabber in the app store. If your version is outdated, it will give you the option to update.
If you require assistance, please feel free to contact the Help Desk at any time.
