Additional information: Spring 2022 return to campus
Dear UW-Whitewater students, faculty and staff,
During this current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, we expect to see some students, faculty, and staff testing positive or waiting for results after exposure. This is likely to affect staffing and class attendance across campus for the short term. I’d like to ask every Warhawk to be patient and accommodating with one another as we work through this situation together.
Students
- Please make an effort to get to know other students in your classes so that, if you are absent, you have people in addition to your instructor you can reach out to for information.
- If your instructor tests positive or is ill, they may have to temporarily move a course virtual. Be sure to watch your email and Canvas for any updates.
- If you test positive, have symptoms, or are awaiting test results, please do not go to a face-to-face class. Instead, communicate with your instructors. If you test positive, please also inform the covid19info@uww.edu hotline.
Faculty and instructional staff
- If you need to temporarily offer your course online due to quarantine, isolation, care-giving responsibilities related to COVID-19, or because are awaiting test results, please communicate with your chair and your students as early as possible. If you are able to teach remotely during this time, you do not need to take sick leave. However, if health concerns exist that may require a longer-term shift in modality, please reach out to Human Resources to discuss the possibility of an accommodation.
- Instructors should prioritize continuity of education for students who are ill, quarantined or required to isolate. Evidence of medical records should not be required for class absences.
- If you test positive, have to quarantine or isolate, have care-giving responsibilities related to COVID-19, or are awaiting test results, please communicate with your supervisor.
- If you test positive, please let covid19info@uww.edu know for data collection purposes.
Staff
- If you test positive, have to quarantine or isolate, have care-giving responsibilities related to COVID-19, or are awaiting test results, please communicate with your supervisor. Do not go in to work until you are cleared.
- Supervisors please be flexible with remote work options while an employee is under quarantine or isolation (if applicable to the specific job).
- If you test positive, please let covid19info@uww.edu know for data collection purposes.
Warhawks, we are in this together. We all want to experience a great spring semester. Please understand that COVID-19 can temporarily affect class attendance, department functioning, and the services that are offered on campus.
For information on masking, testing and vaccines, you can refer to the Jan. 10 message or visit Warhawks Are Back.
Thank you for your support as we start the new semester.
