April is STI Awareness Month
1 in 2 sexually-active people will get a sexually transmitted infection by age 25. Currently in the U.S., 1 in 5 people have an STI. Most STI’s don’t have symptoms, and if left untreated, can cause an increased risk of HIV, organ damage, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and cancer.
It is recommended to be tested at least annually or after each new partner. STI testing is free at University Health and Counseling Services! To make an appointment, call UHCS at 262-472-1300 or schedule online. Appointments last an average of 20 minutes and include free condoms.
You can learn more about campus sexual health services and free safe sex supplies by connecting with UHCS on Instagram.
