Upcoming renovation and maintenance projects
Dear University Community,
Starting this spring, buildings across the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will be undergoing important maintenance and renovations.
Six different state projects totaling $8.2 million are planned — from general building repairs to upgrades that will enhance the experience on campus. The vast majority of projects are made possible through $6.4 million in funding through the state of Wisconsin as distributed by the University of Wisconsin System that is specifically earmarked for maintenance and repairs; and about $1.8 million through program revenue bonding, which are bonds paid through revenues generated from auxiliary operations. There will also be in-house improvements made by our Facilities Planning and Management trades staff for the improvement and maintenance of both McCutchan Hall and Hyland Hall.
The projects include:
- Replacing the roof on Esker Dining Hall (this work planned for last summer had to be postponed to summer 2022)
- Power Plant - Boiler #6 upgrade
- Upham Hall exterior repairs
- McGraw Hall roof repairs
- McGraw Hall entrance replacement and tunnel removal
- Center of the Arts roof replacement
- McCutchan Hall 1st-3rd floor hallway improvements and building-wide stairwell improvements
- Hyland Hall - common area / hallway painting
- UW Credit Union remodel, coordinated / funded by UWCU. UWCU will be open during remodel.
IMPACTS:
- A portion of Parking Lots 2, 4, 12, 14 and 18 will be offline to provide sufficient staging space for the projects.
- Wyman Mall will have detours in place and may be closed at times to accommodate construction traffic. Some entrances from the mall to Andersen, McGraw and Hyer will be closed. McGraw will not have mall access; it will only be accessible from the east entrances. Hyer Hall will still have mall access via the elevator (northeast) entrance. The northwest entrances to Andersen may be closed at times due to construction.
