Updating the Webex Meetings desktop app to the Webex App
Beginning Friday, November 18, the Webex App will replace the Webex Meetings desktop app. The first time you start or join a Webex Meeting after the update from any method (Outlook, web browser, etc.), you may experience a delay as settings are updated. For more details, see Update the Webex Meetings desktop app to the Webex App. This transition will simplify the Webex experience, decreasing app redundancy and increasing access to Webex functionality.
Webex Meetings will continue to have all features you appreciate, with scheduling and joining Webex Meetings from Outlook or your account at uww.webex.com remaining as options. The main update will be to shift quick desktop access to the Meetings tab in the Webex App:
- See a list of all your upcoming meetings pulled in from Outlook
- Schedule a meeting or webinar
- Join a scheduled Webex Meeting in one click
- Access your Personal Meeting Room
Customize the app landing screen to open on Meetings to make it easy to see these by default instead of Messaging.
The Webex App can bring people together with instant messaging, file sharing, group messaging, and quick access to meeting recordings. For an overview of this app, see the ICIT services page for Messaging and Collaboration and learn even more at Getting Started with the Webex App.
This transition will complete the last phase of ICIT's project to consolidate UW-W's communication applications to the Webex App.
