Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with Duo required for students 9/19
Starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, all students will need to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with Duo to log in to university systems along with Net-IDs and passwords as an additional layer of security to prohibit ransomware attacks and phishing scams.
Students self-enroll following the steps in “Getting Started with MFA with Duo” and need two devices: their mobile phone (for Duo Mobile) and another device to start the enrollment process.
Please encourage students to complete their enrollment as soon as possible. They can receive enrollment assistance from IT Services* in the UC from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the week of September 11. Faculty and staff can leverage resources in the Google Drive: MFA with Duo Resources to guide students, including a slide deck to walk a class through the setup process.
This expands the university’s use of MFA to all currently active/enrolled UWW students, faculty, and staff. At this time, retirees, applicants, and alums will not be required to use MFA to access university systems based on the Net-ID lifecycle.
Everyone who has completed enrollment, including employees, can visit go.uww.edu/mfa-selfservice to generate and print backup codes to allow access in case of a lost, broken, or unavailable mobile phone.
Contact the Help Desk at 262-472-4357 or helpdesk@uww.edu with questions or for assistance. After-hours and weekend support for MFA with Duo will be addressed through email at helpdesk@uww.edu.
Remember, if you see an unexpected Duo push on your phone, don't approve it and report this activity to the Help Desk.*ICIT is now IT Services (Information Technology Services)
