Message from Chancellor King: Election information
UW-Whitewater students, faculty and staff,
One of our shared values as an institution is “service and social responsibility.” I hope you will demonstrate your commitment to this core value by participating in the 2024 General Election, whether you choose to vote via absentee ballot or in person on Election Day — Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
Voting information for students
Warhawks Vote is a non-partisan election initiative that helps provide UW-Whitewater students with information on how to register as a voter and where to vote.
The Warhawk Connection Center is also offering student-related programming and resources. You can visit the WCC’s website for more information.
Voting information for employees
My Vote Wisconsin is the state’s official, non-partisan resource for elections and voting information.
Note to supervisors: I am asking all supervisors to be amenable to employees who need space in their day to vote, which is also supported by Universities of Wisconsin System policy. Someone may need to arrive a bit late, leave a little early, or take a few extra minutes for lunch. Supervisors, please be as flexible as you are able. Employees, please be proactive in communicating these needs to your supervisor.
Political activity on campus
As a state institution, it’s important that we all are in alignment with guidance from Universities of Wisconsin regarding political activities on campus.
Let’s also reaffirm our commitment to civil discourse. A thriving campus community depends on our ability to engage in dialogue across differences. Ensuring that our university remains a safe place for all is key to fostering these conversations. You can learn more on the UW civil dialogue website.
Navigating election stress
While this is an exciting time to lend our voices to the future of our nation, state and communities, it can also be a period of extreme stress and anxiety.
If you wish to process your thoughts and feelings around the election, we have free resources available to you. Students can schedule appointments with University Health and Counseling Services. Faculty and staff can contact the Employee Assistance Program.
Sincerely,
Chancellor Corey A. King
