Mandatory Employee Training Requirements

As part of our shared commitment to maintaining a safe, ethical, and legally compliant campus, all UW-Whitewater employees are required to complete the mandatory training courses outlined in the UW System Administration Policy 1293. These trainings are essential for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, protecting sensitive information, and fostering a safe and inclusive workplace for our students, colleagues, and community.

Importance of Compliance:

Timely completion of these trainings is not only a policy requirement but also a condition of eligibility for pay plan increases. Failure to complete mandatory training by the specified deadlines below will result in ineligibility for pay plan increases.

Initial & Ongoing Training Requirements:

All UW-Whitewater employees are assigned all mandatory training upon hire and must complete all courses within 60 days. Ongoing training requirements vary by course, as outlined below.

  • Mandated Reporter: Must be completed within 60 days of hire (one-time requirement).
  • Information Security Awareness: Must be completed within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter within 60 days of assignment.
  • Preventing Sexual Harassment & Violence (Title IX): Must be completed within 60 days of hire and every three (3) years thereafter within 60 days of assignment.
  • FERPA: Must be completed within 60 days of hire and every three (3) years thereafter within 60 days of assignment.

Accessing the Trainings:

Employees can complete their assigned trainings via the MyUW Portal (https://my.wisconsin.edu). Once logged in, navigate to the 'Mandatory Training' section to view and complete your required courses.

Support and Assistance:

We understand that balancing training requirements with daily responsibilities can be challenging. Supervisors should ensure employees have dedicated time during work hours to complete these courses and reinforce the importance of compliance with training requirements. If you encounter technical difficulties, or have questions about the training requirements or accommodations, please contact Thomas Lisowski at lisowskt@uww.edu.

Thank you for your attention to these important training requirements and for your ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant campus environment at UW-Whitewater.
