Upcoming renovation and maintenance projects

Dear University Community,

Starting this spring, buildings across the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will undergo important maintenance and renovations.

Eleven state projects totaling more than $110 million are planned — from general building and utility repairs to major renovations that will enhance the experience on campus. Projects are made possible by funding through the state of Wisconsin as distributed by the Universities of Wisconsin and specifically earmarked for maintenance and repairs; program revenue bonding, which are bonds paid through revenues generated from auxiliary operations; or campus funds.

The state projects include:

-        Winther/Heide additions and renovation

-        Greenhill Center of the Arts Music Department renovation

-        University Center Dunkin Donuts renovation

-        Wells West Hall elevator updates

-        Warhawk Drive reconstruction

-        Baseball pressbox construction

-        Baseball turf replacement

-        Track surface replacement

-        Tutt Hall water infiltration remediation 

-        Fricker Hall retaining wall/storm water improvements

-        University Center lower level exterior flood prevention

 

There will also be in-house projects by our Facilities Planning and Management department, including improvements to Hyer and Upham classrooms, paint and additional whiteboards in the Chrisman Success Center, Heide 219 improvements, Roseman vestibule flooring replacement, Williams Center Kris Russell Arena scoreboard replacement, and the addition of charging stations in parking lots 19, 11 (Williams Center), and 1 (Center of the Arts). Summer improvements and maintenance in the University Center will also include the renovation of Wild Blue Sushi and lighting upgrades to the Warhawk Connection Center, Old Main Lane, and Hamilton Room.

KEY IMPACTS:

-        Warhawk Drive will be closed; expect to reopen by August 14.

-        Winther Hall will be closed/offline until the completion of the project in Fall 2028.

-        Greenhill Center of the Arts lower level practice rooms will be offline through Fall 2026 semester; with limited availability Spring 2027 semester. (Contact Music Dept. for information on interim locations)
