Important changes to 2026-27 financial aid
Dear UW-Whitewater students,
We have created a webpage to provide guidance on changes to federal student aid programs, which are scheduled to become effective July 1, 2026.
There are potential impacts for both undergraduate and graduate students, including reductions to Direct Loan award amounts for less than full-time enrollment and changes to loan limits for Parent PLUS Loans and graduate student borrowing.
UW-Whitewater will update the page and provide further guidance as the U.S. Department of Education continues to finalize the rules as a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
