Death Notice: John Hapka
The Chancellor’s Office has received word that John Hapka, age 82 of Whitewater, died on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 at the Edgerton Care Center in Edgerton, Wisconsin. Hapka came to UW-Whitewater in 1952 as a custodian in the Maintenance Department. He later went on to establish the Central Receiving and Stores Department with Facilities Planning and Management, and retired in 1990.
A visitation will be held this Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a visitation from 9-11 a.m. and a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 1235 W. Main Street, Whitewater. The community is invited to join the family on Saturday, after the burial, for a reception from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the home of Hapka’s daughter, Kathy, at 115 N. Franklin Street, Whitewater.

The campus flag will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 in his honor.
