Interim deans named
Provost Susan Elrod has announced the hiring of two interim deans for 2018-19.
Robin Fox will serve as interim dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies, effective May 22, 2018. Fox, a professor of curriculum and instruction who came to UW-Whitewater in 1990 as a lead teacher in the Children’s Center, currently serves as associate dean, a post she has held since 2015. She will take over for Katy Heyning, who was hired as provost and vice president for academic affairs at The College at Brockport, State University of New York.
Frank Goza will serve as interim dean of the College of Letters and Sciences, effective June 1, 2018. Goza has served as associate dean and professor of sociology since coming to UW-Whitewater in 2013. He will take over for David Travis, who was hired as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UW-River Falls.
“I am so pleased that Dr. Fox and Dr. Goza have stepped forward during this time of transition,” Elrod said. “As associate deans, both are already extremely familiar with the operations and priorities of their respective colleges, and we are fortunate to have such experienced leaders serving in the interim. We will miss the leadership of Dr. Heyning and Dr. Travis, but wish them well in their new positions.”
National searches for permanent deans in both colleges will begin sometime in the Fall 2018 semester.
