Recently, ICIT has been made aware of a number of phishing emails targeted at UW-Whitewater email addresses. These emails say you have reached your email capacity or exceeded storage space and ask you to provide personal information or click on a link. DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK OR PROVIDE PERSONAL INFORMATION. ICIT NEVER requests passwords or other personal information via unsolicited email. Messages requesting such information are fraudulent.
What is phishing?
Phishing is an attempt to deceive an individual into divulging personal and financial information, usually by directing you to a website and requesting you to provide personal information.
What to do if you received a phishing message:
Do not provide any information to the source and delete the message immediately.
