Regent President Michael J. Falbo announced today that Chancellor Richard J. Telfer will serve as the interim UW System President following the departure of Kevin P. Reilly at year’s end.
Dr. Telfer will begin his post on Jan. 1 and serve until the new UW System president steps into the leadership position. Dr. Telfer will then return to his position as chancellor at UW-Whitewater.
“I am honored to be helping the UW System through this transition period,” Telfer said. “I think anyone who knows me understands that UW-Whitewater holds a special place in my heart and I will miss it while I’m serving at UW System.”
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Bev Kopper has agreed to serve as interim chancellor during Dr. Telfer’s absence from campus. An interim provost will be named at a later date.
