Dear Campus Community,
Ebola poses little threat to the general population in this country, including UW-Whitewater. Please understand however, that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued travel warnings for the countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. These travel warnings suggest that all nonessential travel to these countries be avoided. A travel alert has been issued for travelers to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Here is the link to the CDC’s travel alert website: [link destination="http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices" text="http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices"]
In our effort to continue to educate campus about public health issues, we are asking for your cooperation in communicating with the Center for Global Education (CGE) if you are planning to travel to any of the areas in western Africa affected by the Ebola virus. At this time, CGE knows of no one planning to travel to the affected countries nor does it know of anyone from those countries planning to come to UW-Whitewater.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services set up a toll-free line for state residents with questions about Ebola. Residents can call 1-844-684-1064 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The calls are free, confidential, and multi-lingual.
