Hello,
Please mark your calendars for the Women in Higher Education Leadership event which will take place on Thursday, August 20, beginning with networking and refreshments at 10:30 a.m. in the Hyland Hall Atrium.
The beauty of being part of the Warhawk family is that we have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students, our colleagues, the university and our communities, and to be a leader in whatever we do on and off campus. The purpose of this session is to come together to celebrate our accomplishments and reflect on our continuing challenges.
Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings, a professor with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Policy Studies, and Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will energize us as we embark on a new academic year. Professor Ladson-Billings is best known for her book, The Dreamkeeper: Successful Teachers of African American Children, and has just earned this year’s Social Justice in Education Award from the American Educational Research Association.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Bev Kopper, provost
