To: Students and Staff at UW-Whitewater
Date: October 5, 2015
UW-Whitewater has experienced a total of six (6), lab-confirmed cases of mumps since the start of the fall semester. For this reason, we are asking that you be on alert for the symptoms of mumps from now through at least October 28, 2015. Even if you have been vaccinated for mumps, there is still a chance you can contract the disease.
Symptoms may include pain and or swelling below the jaw with accompanying fatigue, low grade fever, headache, body aches and or loss of appetite. Should you experience symptoms, call University Health and Counseling Services to be evaluated, 262-472-1300 or your personal health care provider.
Keep in mind that this end date will need to be extended should additional confirmed cases be identified.
If you are unsure of your immunization status, or you don’t have 2 doses, contact campus health services for vaccination.
