Attention UW-Whitewater Students,
The U.S. Census, which is done every 10 years, is critical to our communities. This important work carries on in spite of the COVID-19 situation. Here is information about what steps need to be taken whether you live on or off campus. For more information, you can go to www.uww.edu/documents/housing/census2020.pdf.
Students who were residents of the Residence Halls for most of the year:
Students residing in University Housing operated housing (UW-Whitewater residence halls and Cambridge apartments) — University Housing will be providing the needed information to the Census on your behalf So, the work is being done for you.
Students residing off campus/not at home:
The U.S. Census Bureau reminds students, especially off-campus students, about the importance of filling out the 2020 census. If you are not in university-owned or run facilities, then please fill out the census and list Whitewater or Janesville (whichever campus applies to you) as your residence, even if you are in your hometown or another place studying remotely. If you live with roommates in a residence, it would be best to coordinate filling it out with them for Whitewater. If you didn't get information regarding the census in the mail or if you just want more information, please go to https://2020census.gov/. It is important that you complete the census for the off-campus residence where you live and sleep most of the time. Failure to do so will greatly impact the community in which your reside.
