Chancellor’s Order renewed
Based on the recommendation of our local health department partners, the Chancellor’s Order of Aug. 24, 2021, has been renewed and extends the requirements for testing of unvaccinated individuals for the UW-Whitewater community through Oct. 30, 2021. In addition, face coverings are still required indoors on campus until further notice.
Keep up the good work, Warhawks! With a verified vaccination rate of 70% of students and 91% of faculty and staff on our two campuses, we are doing the work to keep ourselves and our fellow community members safe. Thank you for taking these simple and important steps to protect yourself, your friends and family and the broader community.
COVID-19 testing
Employees and students who are unvaccinated or who have not shared proof of COVID-19 vaccination with UW-Whitewater will be required to continue to test weekly on campus through at least Oct. 30. Those who are required to test weekly but fail to do so will be held accountable through the Dean of Students office, University Housing, or Human Resources as appropriate.
Face coverings
- All individuals are still required to wear face coverings when indoors, unless you are eating or drinking or alone in your office or you are in your residence hall room.
- Acceptable face coverings must fit snugly against the face without leaving gaps, cover both the mouth and the nose, be washable or disposable after a single use, and have at least two layers that block light when held up to a light source. The following face coverings are not acceptable: gaiters that consist of only one layer, face coverings made of mesh or other open-weave material, and face shields worn without a mask or other face covering.
UW-Whitewater continues to use information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State of Wisconsin, county health departments and the University of Wisconsin System to guide the decision-making processes across campuses. The EOC is closely monitoring conditions on campus and in the community.
If you’re not yet vaccinated, now is the time. Safe, effective vaccines are available at no cost to you. We urge every student and employee who is able to get vaccinated to do so and to upload a record of vaccination.
A reminder that vaccinated students are eligible for $500 awards as part of a weekly drawing, and, as our university has reached a 70% vaccination rate, students who are vaccinated and have uploaded their record by Oct. 31 are eligible for UW System random drawings of $7,000 scholarships, which will take place later this fall.
Please note that COVID-19 is an ongoing global pandemic, and modifications of these practices should be anticipated.
