New Chancellor’s Order effective Nov. 1
A new Chancellor’s Order has been issued, effective Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, that outlines COVID-19 protocols for the Whitewater and Rock County campuses through the end of the fall semester.
Keep up the good work, Warhawks! Our protocols continue to successfully allow us to offer in-person university courses and experiences. With a verified vaccination rate of 75% of students and 91% of faculty and staff on our two campuses, we are doing the work to keep ourselves and our fellow community members safe. Thank you for taking these simple and important steps to protect yourself, your friends and family and the broader community.
Here are highlights of the new Chancellor’s Order:
COVID-19 testing
Employees and students who are unvaccinated or who have not shared proof of COVID-19 vaccination with UW-Whitewater will continue to be required to test weekly on campus through Dec. 11. Those who are required to test weekly but fail to do so will be held accountable through the Dean of Students office, University Housing, or Human Resources as appropriate.
Face coverings
Through Dec. 31, all individuals are still required to wear face coverings when indoors.
Exceptions:
- When you are eating or drinking
- When you are alone in your office
- When you are in residence halls on your own residence floor. You must still wear masks everywhere else in the residence halls (lobbies, basements, stairwells, elevators and other common areas, etc.).
Acceptable face coverings must fit snugly against the face without leaving gaps, cover both the mouth and the nose, be washable or disposable after a single use, and have at least two layers that block light when held up to a light source. The following face coverings are not acceptable: gaiters that consist of only one layer, face coverings made of mesh or other open-weave material, and face shields worn without a mask or other face covering.
UW-Whitewater continues to use information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State of Wisconsin, county health departments and the University of Wisconsin System to guide the decision-making processes across campuses. The EOC is closely monitoring conditions on campus and in the community.
If you’re not yet vaccinated, it is not too late. Safe, effective vaccines are available at no cost to you. We urge every student and employee who is able to get vaccinated to do so and to upload a record of vaccination. If you are vaccinated and eligible for a booster shot, please get one.
A reminder that vaccinated students who have uploaded their record by Oct. 31 are eligible for UW System random drawings of $7,000 scholarships, which will take place later this fall.
Please note that COVID-19 is an ongoing global pandemic, and modifications of these practices should be anticipated.
