Welcome Week events and workshops
Dear Warhawks,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 academic year! I hope you found some time over the past few months to relax and enjoy the summer.
As we prepare to welcome students back to the Whitewater and Rock County campuses, we invite you to attend in-person and virtual workshops beginning the week of Aug. 22. The schedule of events is located on the Welcome Week event calendar.
Researcher and author Zach Mercurio will visit Young Auditorium on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. for a workshop titled “Create a Culture Where Everyone Matters.”
On Monday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m. we’ll hold our annual Welcome Address in Young Auditorium with coffee and donuts to follow. I am looking forward to celebrating our achievements of the past year and sharing goals for this new academic year. Our colleagues will provide updates on the university's strategic planning efforts, our HLC re-accreditation visit in October, the chancellor search, and the work of our diversity-focused task forces. We’ll also hear about our planned work related to mental health and sexual assault prevention. And, I’ll share information on our current and projected enrollment and finances.
The Academic Affairs Fall Forum in-person event is also on Monday, Aug. 29, from 1-4 p.m. in Timmerman Auditorium.
The annual ICIT Technology Open House featuring the latest technology tools, services and resources designed to help students, faculty and staff succeed at UW-Whitewater takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 1:30-4 p.m. in the Hamilton Room.
Again, I look forward to seeing you at our Welcome Address at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, and I hope you take advantage of the workshops and events the entire two weeks. We have an outstanding array of programming planned to help kick off the academic year.
John Chenoweth, Ed.D.
