How students can stay healthy during cold/flu season
Warhawks,
As we begin the semester, it is important to remember — whether you are living in close quarters with others, attending classes, or even going to the store — communicable diseases are everywhere. Flu season begins in October, and cold viruses and the COVID-19 virus continue to circulate.
Here are a few practices that can keep not just ourselves healthy and safe this year, but also those around us.
*Get your flu shot (free for students at UHCS)
*Stay home or in your room when you are sick (if you live in university housing, you can request a sick meal kit)
*See a provider if your symptoms are worsening (UHCS 262-472-1300 for students)
*Go to vaccines.gov if looking to update your COVID vaccine (UHCS does not have any COVID vaccines)
*WASH YOUR HANDS frequently
*Eat healthy and get enough sleep
More information on COVID-19, influenza and other communicable diseases is available through the CDC website. You can also find information at UW-Whitewater University Health and Counseling website for communicable diseases that we consistently monitor for on campus.
